Stirring Up History

Cheryl McCann

Stirring Up History is the recreation of the 1880 and then the 1903 Presbyterian Ladies of Liberty Missouri’s Economy Cook Books, but with a little something extra.  The ladies identified themselves and were listed under their married husbands’ names.  Therefore, next to nothing was known about them personally.  Through careful investigation at the Clay County Archives, researchers were able to identify most of them and, therefore, write their life stories.  This presentation will help attendees enjoy the pictures and biographies included, as well as learn about cooking in the time period of this book, 1880-1903.  In the presentation, antique cooking utensils will be introduced and a discussion about the life and daily lives of the women of that era.
