CHAR MITTS

 Char is a researcher and presenter for C & J Genealogical Services. She has been a Temple and Family History Consultant for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for almost thirty years. Char is a graduate of the ProGen Study Group, an 18-month Professional Genealogy course, and was the leader for two other ProGen Study Groups. She was the president of the Johnson County Genealogical Society for eight years, in 2010 started and currently leads the Legacy Family Tree Users Group and in 2020 started and leads the FamilySearch Users Group for the Johnson County Genealogical Society. She has lectured locally and nationally. She is the mother of seven children and the grandmother of nineteen. In 2021 Char and her husband, John, sold their house and became full-time RVers traveling around the country, doing their genealogy and helping others along the way.  If customers can’t find it, it doesn’t exist. Temple & Family History Callings Q & A Session – Char Mitts; For Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; (Saturday at 10:15 AM)

This class is for those that have callings that support Temple and Family History in the Ward and/or Stake who want to know more about their calling and learn what others in the surrounding areas are doing. The class will be an open-ended discussion with those attending the class and a panel of individuals who hold various Ward and Stake positions with responsibilities having to do with temple & family history. There will be no formal presentation. Come share your successes and gather your ideas from others in the region. 

Using PowerPoint or Google Slides – A Tool to Make a Family History Book or Movie – Char Mitts; Intermediate, Advanced; (Friday at 10:15 AM & Saturday at 12:45 PM) 

Our ancestors were more than the records we seek. Their stories can be found within those records, but the stories need to come alive to interest others. Using PowerPoint or Google Slides can be the vehicle to share those stories with family by creating a book or movie. This class will show you how to plan, gather & add visuals, animate them, add sound and put it all together. There will be examples of a short book and movie clips to show you what can be done.
