Mary Celeste

Mary is a retired librarian, director of Northland Genealogy Society, and the Library Director of the Missouri State Genealogy Association. She has been a presenter at GenealogyKC, and many libraries, genealogy, and lineage organizations in the area. Mary has been a member of the National Genealogical Society, Association of Professional Genealogists, Genealogical Speakers Guild, American and Missouri Library Associations - Genealogical and Local History Committees, and various lineage societies.

Finding Ancestors: Research or DNA or Both? - Northland Genealogy Society - When seeking ancestors, what is the best way to investigate? Research can be overwhelming and lead to brick walls. DNA results require analysis. A panel of five genealogists will discuss the advantages and drawbacks of each approach and how combining both may lead to the best results. Objectives: learn basics of document research and DNA analysis; learn strategies for combining them for the best results; and learn the value of verifiable and credible evidence. Learning outcomes: what document research is helpful when starting lineage investigation; what DNA tests and analysis strategies are feasible for genealogy hobbyists."
