Mary has been doing her own genealogy research for over twenty years, enjoying every minute of discovery, especially finding her roots in England and Wales.  She has worked at the Midwest Genealogy Center for six years as a Genealogy Reference Associate, helping others discover their family roots.  

EXAGGERATED HISTORY: GRANDPA’S TALL TALE

A lot of family stories are just that: stories.  No records, no interviews. Just a tale passed down through the generations.  Some are too old, and obscure, to have documents to prove their validity.  While other stories took place at a time when a paper trail exists.  This presentation discusses both scenarios:  how to find the “reasonableness” if documents don’t exist, and how to use documents to prove or disprove your story.
