Patrick is the Education and Outreach Librarian for the Missouri Valley Special Collection at the Kansas City Public Library. They received their Ph.D. in Art History at New York University’s Institute of Fine Arts in 2015 with a concentration in ancient Egyptian art and archaeology. Since then, they have worked as a public historian and museum educator. At the Kansas City Public Library, they specialize in helping researchers, students, and the general public connect with the history of Kansas City and the region.

Salland Ph.D. Missouri Valley Special Collection Kansas City Public Library - The Missouri Valley Collection at the Kansas City Public Library is dedicated to preserving and sharing the history of the Kansas City metropolitan area. The library’s holdings include over 50,000 books, newspapers, photographs, yearbooks, postcards, documents preserved on microfilm, and other archival items. This presentation will briefly examine the history of the collection and its major strengths and highlights, the resources, both traditional and digital, available to researchers, and the services offered by the MVSC staff.
