Your participation is crucial to us!
You can choose from the various positions listed below and indicate the day and time you are available to provide support. The duration of your volunteering is entirely up to you, and we will work together to ensure a positive experience at GENEALOGYKC 2023.

At the beginning of each class, a volunteer welcomes the class participants and the presenter, then reads the bio of the presenter. They then sit in the back of the room and listen to the presentation. Ten minutes before the end of the allotted time, the volunteer notifies the presenter, so they can end on time. Besides listening to the presentation, the volunteer also takes a head count of those attending. A book is available in each room with all the information the volunteer requires to perform these tasks. If you're attending presentations, you could volunteer to introduce presenters to the classes you attend. It's a win-win for all!
We need volunteers to assist us in setting up everything related to registration. This will entail working before and during the event. Before the event, you will help put together welcome packets for all participants, including their name tags, class schedules, etc. Prior to the start of each day, volunteers on the registration committee will be at the event at 8:30 AM to assist those who pre-registered in receiving all their registration information and to assist same-day event registrants. During the event, not all members of the registration committee will be required to work each day, and they will not need to volunteer all day at the registration desk. Once the event begins with the keynote speaker, most of the committee will be released that day to participate in the classes. A schedule will be arranged so that someone can be at the registration desk to assist participants with their questions.
Volunteers are required to distribute box lunches to participants during the two scheduled lunch periods each day. Additionally, some assistance is required prior to the lunch period to set up for the distribution of the lunches and in setting up snacks, etc., in the volunteers and presenters lounge.
We need volunteers to assist us in setting up and decorating the facility the day prior to the event (Thursday). We need people with creative ideas to transform the facility into a dynamic place for family history learning! Come share your ideas and let everyone see what you design!
We need IT professionals to assist us in setting up and maintaining the IT equipment and network we will use for the event. On-site support will be provided to the presenters, so we need individuals who are technically proficient and can dedicate time on Thursday for setup, as well as on Friday and Saturday to be on-site and assist with takedown. Schedules are flexible and will be adjusted based on the number of volunteers.
We need volunteers to clean the building on Thursday night, Friday night, and Saturday night after the event is completed. This includes washing entryway windows, white/black boards, vacuuming carpets, cleaning/mopping, and restocking restrooms, as well as emptying all trash cans. On Saturday, this would also include setting up the building for Sunday services.
